Hands on

This section of the guide will show you how to use the popular image manipulation tool, Gimp. Gimp is an open source software tool that works pretty much the same as Adobe Photoshop. You can change, scale, crop or add text to images in Gimp, you can even get more creative using layers of photographs, creating digital collages or combining images with graphics. This guide walks you through getting started with Gimp and some of it's more basic functions.

Once you have manipulated your images you might want to use the popular online publishing and photosharing service Flickr to host your photos.

If you are thinking about using Flickr you should bear in mind that it is not the only photo sharing service available on the internet and it is also blocked from time to time in some countries.
