Pakistani buses decorated with cartoons

Social messages on child rights, female literacy, environment, good governance, national unity and sexual harassment have been disseminated by Gogi Studios through cartoon drawings plastered on buses in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s leading female cartoonist Nigar Nazar has used her popular characters for advocating messages in Islamabad and recently in the city of Lahore. The bus shown addresses environmental issues and illustrates the benefits of planting a tree.

 

Working women in India

Kanthamma is a story about a female construction worker who leads a difficult life. It was intended to generate discussion in women's groups and create awareness about women's issues. The author of the comic is J N Sitra and the artist is Mithradir.

The comic was published by the Institute for Cultural Research and Action in Bangalore.

World Bank Development in India

"The government has taken a big loan from the World Bank and people expect development. The World Bank wants land for factories, and the government sends the police to chase away people from their tribal land.
